A Team That Cares

Our goal is to provide a beautiful, safe and loving home that promotes independence while improving the quality of life and focusing on strengths with a dedicated team in a resident centered environment. Our staff specializes in the connection of individuals who need a structured setting while allowing family and friends to spend quality time with them in a relaxed environment. Family caregivers can manage major responsibilities and assist in the care of their loved one.

Meet Sabreen

Sabreen Johnson, mother of two charming young adults, is the owner and founder of Carolina Roses. She established the blueprint for her business in 2017 by meeting the needs of independent elderly individuals with a housing option that was not in a nursing home filled with a high resident count or in a medical setting. Sabreen catered to a population that benefited from a community that felt like home with a smaller, more intimate group of individuals which encouraged socialization while maintaining structure and routine.

As a state licensed long term care coordinator, Sabreen ensures that each person in need receives all eligible services to maintain the healthiest lifestyle possible with various programs. She also partners with medical providers to regularly assess each resident’s ability to remain under an appropriate level of care and in optimal health. With over 25 years of experience in long term care, Sabreen brings her knowledge and expertise to individuals, families, caregivers, social workers, and other professionals.

Sabreen received her undergraduate degree from South Carolina State University in 1999. Subsequently, Sabreen received a Master of Business Administration in 2001 and a Master of Human Resource Development in 2002 from Webster University.

The Mission: A Legacy of Care

The inspiration behind Carolina Roses came from a personal place in the founder’s heart. Her mother, Rose, and only daughter, Imoni Rose both share a passion and likeness for helping others. Imoni followed a similar path as her mother by establishing a career assisting others. She currently serves as a resident counselor for Carolina Roses residents as well. Ongoing mental health and emotional well being remains a priority for all.

Additional Services

In an effort to serve in a larger capacity, we also provide the following services:

  • Provide placement recommendations to eligible seniors for housing and care coordination
  • Consultation services and networking opportunities with other long term care professionals

Co-Living v. Co-Housing

Co-Living
A co-living space is a space rented by a number of people, all living under the same roof and in a community, but who will all have their own contract. Co-living spaces typically entail a private bedroom and bathroom and communal eating and living spaces.
Co-Housing
A co-housing or flat-sharing is generally a number of people sharing a traditional family style house that has not been directly designed to be shared. Usually, co-housing will be entirely communal apart from each resident’s bedroom. Co-housing will also not include access to facilities on offer in co-living spaces.
The Difference
One of the big advantages of co-living is the affordability aspect. Compared with renting a flat by yourself, co-living will usually be significantly cheaper, particularly in the busy city centres where these spaces are found. Co-housing can also be an affordable option for those wanting to live in a city. However, the price you pay will be based on ‘normal’ factors that influence private rentals, such as the quality and desirability of the area of the property you’re hoping to move to and local amenities. Generally speaking, these two options come out much cheaper than the option of living alone. However, a downside of co-housing is that you generally sign one contract together with all other residents, whether you know them or not. This means that if another member of your household is unable to pay the rent for example, you may be liable to pay it for them. Whereas, with a co-living contract, you are only responsible for your own share of the rent and for your own room. It is certainly worth considering this before choosing between the two options.
